Leave a Positive Footprint - World Nomads

Leave a Positive Footprint - World Nomads: "What is Footprints?

Footprints is a micro-payment facility that allows customer contributions to small community aid programs around the world.

Developed by World Nomads, customers purchasing online can choose to add as little as $1 to a program of their choice. Because Footprints programs are small, it doesn't take many customers to complete full funding.

All programs are provided by and operated by registered charities and NGO's. Footprints can be integrated as a web service with most e-commerce web sites, and is particularly relevant in Travel and Adventure.

For example, a mere A$1500 buys a fishing boat for a village on Thailand's west coast, devastated by the Tsunami. Not only does this enable the fishermen to feed the village, it also alleviates the potential debt of these fishermen trying to re-start their lives. Or A$2,500 pays the complete cost of building a 15 metre well with pump in Tanzania " a well that serves over 500 people. "... (click on link above to read entire article)

Paris hotels: How to reduce your risk of being disappointed

Paris hotels: How to reduce your risk of being disappointed: "Travel forums are gold mines of information if you care to review the postings of enchanted and disgruntled travelers coming back from abroad.

As Senior Editor of Paris-Eiffel-Tower-News, I often peruse these forums to find out about the concerns voiced by fellow travelers headed to the 'City of Lights'.

Among the postings which keep coming back, one stands out from the crowd: what does a 3-star rating really mean? Travelers tend to be confused by the many star-rating systems in use. I felt the subject called for an educated explanation.

The meaning of stars in the US

First of all, let's be clear: there is absolutely no relationship whatsoever between the number of stars commercial travel sites award to hotels, and the hotel rating system in use in France."... (click link above to read entire article)

Airboat with Captain Gator Bruce

Airboat with Captain Gator Bruce: "Wow! What a ride, 90 minutes of amazing scenery, wildlife, and fun. As we were riding out to our embarkation point my mother was so excited she said "I can't wait to get on the boat, it will be loud but I want to go where airboats go." When asked where airboats go she said, "I don't know, but they take you where you can't go by foot." That was a prophetic statement.

Captain Gator Bruce introduced himself, and reminded us that we were 5 minutes late. We boarded the boat with 2 other tourists, put on our earmuffs to block out the roar of the airplane engine powered motor, and away we went. "... (click on link above to read entire article)

Fabulous Downtown Las Vegas

Fabulous Downtown Las Vegas: "I love downtown Las Vegas the food and drinks are great and everything is cheaper than on the strip. Don't park in the public parking garage; park in one of the casino garages they are free, just validate your casino parking pass at the cage. Validating your parking ticket is easy; the machine in Binions is sitting on the shelf right outside the cashier's cage. " ... (click on link above to read entire article)

Malta Holidays Back On Map

Malta Holidays Back On Map: "For a Mediterranean island with good year round weather, a friendly local English speaking population and facilities to rival that of any of her competitors, Malta is a suprisingly often forgotten island for many people planning a holiday in the Mediterranean.

Malta missed some of her own government's tourist targets in 2005, but a recent visit by Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh resulted in four days of positive media coverage in the island's most important market " the United Kingdom " and also in over 50 other countries attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting, including Canada and Australia."... An Affair At The Honolulu Zoo...

An Affair At The Honolulu Zoo...: "It's late afternoon and I am sitting here immersed in a new discovery. I came to the Honolulu zoo this afternoon and found, quite by accident, one of the most serene places I have experienced in years.

Relaxing on an old wooden bench, I am surrounded by some of the most unique species of exotic bird life to be found anywhere. Instead of putting the birds in cages, they fly freely in a huge outside aviary and it is we who come into their environment to visit them. The birds are accustomed to human visitors and will approach you on their terms."...

The Feathered Felon Of Honolulu Zoo...

The Feathered Felon Of Honolulu Zoo...: "My friend the Hammercop has been busying itself for days now building one of the largest nests I have ever seenfully five feet across.

In the crotch of an old tree can be found just about every type of nest building material, all carefully woven together with meticulous attention to detail. Anything is a suitable ingredient for the Hammercop, and he can be very aggressive in his collecting habits."
