Accessible Outback - The Flinders Ranges

Accessible Outback - The Flinders Ranges: "In South Australia, drive just 3 hours (250kms) north of the state’s capital - Adelaide and you will encounter some of the most beautiful natural scenery that Outback Australia has to offer. With a landscape of rugged peaks, gorges and creeks, the natural beauty of this diverse area makes exploring it a pleasure. The ranges themselves are 800 million years old and made up of quartzite and limestone. There is a massive pound in the southern Flinders called The Wilpena Pound that is 17kms long and 7kms wide. Once a pastoral station, to the Adnyamathanha indigenous people the area has long held a special significance. There are a number of walks that allow for walkers of all fitness levels but the most spectacular is the day-return walk to the highest point in the Flinders Ranges – St Mary’s peak. There is accommodation at the Wilpena Pound Resort as well as at the nearby working sheep station - Rawnsley Park Station." ...
